Why We Refill
Glass candle containers are often incorrecly recycled due to wax residue and heat treatment of the glass. These end up in landfills and take thousands of years to decompose. By refilling and reusing our glass mason jars we are able to reduce the number of glass containers produced for the sake of holding candles as well as the number that end up incorrectly recycled and in landfills.
Reducing our Consumption
Seasonal scents are a joy we can have without contributing to carbon emissions! By choosing to refill or exchange your candle container when moving from one seasonal scent to the next, you are choosing to significantly decrease your carbon footprint. Instead of another glass container being manufactured and shipped to you or a big box store, your decision to refill or exchange keeps in circulation only a select few jars and halts the culture of excess that is actively harming our planet.
Local Pick Up And Drop Offs
We purposely keep business local for the most sustainable operation possible! While we could easily ship out our candles and refills, by committing to only local pick up and drop offs we significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Shipping glass containers, particularly filled or heavy ones, creates carbon emissions that we mitigate by focusing on creating high quality goods for our local community instead of on expansion outside of it.
Paraffin Free All Natural Soy Wax
Many candles you find at big box stores are made with paraffin wax, a non renewable petroleum based product that releases harmful chemicals like benzene, toluene, on and soot into the air when burned. We use exclusively all natural soy wax providing a clean burn for you and our planet.
Scent Oil Selection
We choose to scent our candles with scent oils instead of essential oils. Essential oils require massive amounts of plant material to make and contribute to environmental degradation. Our scent oils, sourced from Candle Science, are instead made by a longer process of soaking significantly less plant material in oil for months to get the same amazing scents with out the negative impacts. Our scent oils are not only healthier for the planet, but are also the cleanest oils on the market and contain no known or suspected carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins, or acute toxins for the cleanest healthiest burn!
